expired request by mistake

the dates are now blocked  - - how can I free up those dates for a new enquiry?

Yes...Airbnb blocks the dates of the request if you don't respond within 24 hours, but says you can manually unblock them after the fact. Not responding wiithin 24 hours will count against you in Superhost stats and response times shown to guests and on the listing:
