flight cancellations due to government shutdown

if my flight is cancelled due to the government shutdown, can i get a refund on my reservation?

Did you purchase travel insurance for your reservation? Airbnb offers it at checkout. I believe this would be covered. 

You might want to ask Airbnb about it as well. Not sure it would qualify under their major disruptive events policies but you can ask.

If there are government travel advisories issued against travel to a specific area you would be covered . @Mary7239 

Not just because a flight is cancelled though.

If its Government travel restrictions or prohibitions it qualifies as a Major Disruptive Event.  Best to contact Airbnb Support first before cancelling.

This situation probably would not fall under Government travel bans/restrictions (there are no Government travel bans right now). It's possible it would fall under "Major Disruptive Event" but no guarantee on that.

Since Airbnb calls the shots on what is considered a Major Disruptive event, I suggest (as you also did) that @Mary7239 contact Airbnb to find out if she would be covered.

In addition to the other information outined, the Host may consider refunding you (as @Udoka2 mentions), but they may not be required to do so under Airbnb's cancellation policies.

Some Hosts would refund you if they were able to get the stay re-booked

Some would just provide a full refund

Some would provide a credit/discount for a future stay

Some would provide a partial refund
