@Shona5 There are times when Airbnb unilaterally cancels a booking because of an issue with the guest or their payment method, but there's usually a message informing both parties. But for privacy reasons, they don't disclose the reason to the host, so all you can really do is recommend that he call Airbnb himself You don't have an active booking for the guest, so there's no further service or communication that you owe him.
It wouldn't really benefit him to go out to your village and turn up at a place where he's just going to be denied entry. But if he's the kind of psycho who does that sort of thing out of spite, Airbnb can't physically stop him. There is a thread on how to contact Airbnb pinned near the top of this forum, but hold times are exceptionally long - a waste of your time since you can't accommodate a re-booking anyway.
