send discount to previous guest.

I have followed the steps to send a discount to a previous guest.   I have tapped Profile, Switch to Hosting, Tapped Inbox and opened guest message. There is no "Special Offer" link anywhere??? 

 

Can someone please help.  I am new to Airbnb

Hi @Georgina268 to send a special offer to a past guest on Airbnb, you need to follow these steps:

 

1. Advise your previous guest to send a new inquiry on your listing. 

2. Ensure that your calendar is open and that there are no pending booking requests for the dates you want to offer.

3. Once your previous guest sends you a new inquiry, you should have the option to send them a special offer. 

 

It's important to note that the special offer feature on Airbnb is reactive; it can only be used in response to an inquiry from a guest. It's not a proactive feature that hosts can initiate on their own to offer incentives for repeat bookings. Hope this helps! 

Hello @Alicia753  - I have the dates blocked for my potential guest so that no other guests can book those dates (Instant Book is turned on). Any idea how to ensure that no other guests can book the dates that this client would like to book, other than coordinating a specific time when I would open those dates for the client to send a new inquiry?

 

This seems unnecessarily difficult. Is there a technical reason why the platform is not proactive for hosts?

The easiest way to do this is to change your settings to request to book . Advise the guests they have xxx hours to book.

 

I've done this for guests and  it's really quite easy .

 

they send a request and you reply with a special offer. They book. You turn IB on again.

You've got some great advice here about changing the settings to request to book - it's a great work around for Hosts to be able to send special offers! 

 

I've removed the last comment though as asking or encouraging guests to book outside of Airbnb for repeat or future bookings is against the Airbnb's Off-Platform Policy. This is part of the accepted Airbnb Terms and Policies, including Terms of Service.

Sorry you are incorrect @Rebecca 

 

you absolutely can suggest guests book directly for future bookings. I know Airbnb say otherwise in their policy but they aren't allow to make this claim.

 

what you can't do is suggest guests coming through the platform book directly - this is not something I have ever suggested
