How to use the 'Search' feature: A CC Tutorial

CC Tutorials.png

Hi all,

As the Community Center has undergone several changes over the past month, we thought it would be a good idea to go back to basics and make sure everyone understands how to use the various features here.

This time I would like to show a tutorial on how to use the 'Search' bar located on the homepage of the CC (Community Center) as we've made several changes to that.

We added search filters so that you can refine your searches. You can now also find other users, search for topics within a specific board, or narrow down by time. All of this will help you find the answers you're looking for faster.

On the Community Center homepage, and actually every page in the CC you will find a search bar with a magnifying glass.

As soon as you type in what you're looking for, example, let's say 'Contact Airbnb' you will notice that some results related to your question will appear on the bottom of the search bar. You can then choose whether you would like to go to one of the topics or view all the results simply by pressing the enter key.

Once you've typed in what you're looking for (without using the suggestions), press 'Enter' and you will be directed a page where multiple results related to your search will be shown.

You will now see several options:

'Search in'
This filter allows you to select and search in a specific forum for instance if you are looking for a message that you know is in the 'Hosting' board.

'Author'
With this filter, you can narrow messages down coming from a specific user. Simply enter the name of the user you're looking for and you will see posts where this user has participated in.

'Date'
This filter allows you to narrow down by time, making it easier for you to find a specific post written on a specific day, week, month, or year.

'Find a specific user'
If you click on the 'User' option and then type in the name of the person you're looking for, you'll see a list of names and you'll be able to see what they have posted recently.

'Search for a private message'
Finally, you can search for specific private messages that you have sent or received. You can also enter a keyword which will then reveal all private messages related to that.

I hope you all find this tutorial helpful!
