our listing in New York City was scrubbed

Our listings in New York City were just scrubbed, with no explanation. I have read the press about AirBnB's subpoena, and also this page:  http://www.nysenate.gov/report/answers-new-yorkers-concerned-or-confused-about-illegal-hotel-law. We own our one-family home outright and so it is not illegal under the 2010 law for us to rent it out. How can we appeal to AirBnB to get our listing re-activated?

looks like this is happening to quite a few hosts in NYC.  they all got the same story:  listing shut down, no explanation.  i think you will just need to re-list as new.

sorry that happened to you.

here're some chains of message in the old groups:

yes agreed the easiest way is just to make a new listing, spend an hour editing and reuploading pics and done... but needless to say that you're probably wanting your old listing, with its reviews, back and that you in all likelihood were wronged by airbnb and them acknowledging that would boost your morale as a host... so just call and try getting a good CX on the line, someone senior bc most kids know nothing about these things... good luck!
