Hosting in NYC- advice

I am contemplating starting hosting my extra room again after pausing when Covid broke out.  Are there any current hosts who can give me an idea if it is worthwhile it? Seems like there are many hotel rooms and illegal renting of a whole apartment that I would compete against.  Do you rent an extra room? Do you get a lot of requests? Are the rates lower or higher than pre Covid? Any color or insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
