@Paul6416  The host is likely just trying to get a longer-term renter in there to offset his losses due to all the cancellations due to travel restrictions and lockdowns due to coronavirus. There's no reason to jump to conclusions that he's going to be trying to rent the place for a year and not honor reservations farther into the future. If I were you, I'd message the host and just ask what his intentions are. 

If a host cancels your booking, you get 100% refund. The cancellation policies for guests only apply if the guest cancels. But of course you wouldn't want him to cancel last minute, as you'd need to make alternative plans. 

FYI, in case you weren't aware, the host doesn't have your money at this point, Airbnb does. Hosts only get paid after the guest checks in.
