How is it being a Host?

Hello, wonderful Airbnb community!

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Nour Mohamed, and I’m currently working on a study that aims to explore the experiences of Airbnb hosts. As part of my research, I’m looking to gather insights directly from hosts like you, who are the backbone of the Airbnb experience.

I initially tried to join the social hubs that Airbnb recommended, but unfortunately, I was denied access since they are exclusively for hosts. I completely understand and respect that, but it leaves me in a bit of a bind. I want to avoid sending messages through the booking system, as I know how busy your inboxes can get and I don't want to clutter them with inquiries that might not be relevant to your current guests.

That’s why I’m turning to this community as my last hope! If you’re an Airbnb host and are willing to share your experiences, I would greatly appreciate your participation in my study. Your insights would be invaluable in helping me achieve my academic goals and further understand the hosting experience.

Thank you so much for considering my request. Together, we can contribute to a better understanding of our community!

It's changed a lot.  Years ago it was much different, it seemed like the company actually cared about their hosts. Now, Airbnb does not care about hosts at all.  At this point I feel like they don't even care about guests either, in my area of Seattle Washington they have several hosts on Airbnb that are all actually one fraudulent account but due to their horrible ratings they repeatedly create new accounts and have multiple accounts to keep running on the platform and scamming guests non-stop. I've brought it up to airbnb's attention for 3 years now and they've done nothing about it except for let the read list the same rundown dangerous properties to receive the same horrible reviews by the hundreds, yet other hosts who actually work to give guests a five-star experience will have their listing suspended for one single guests negative review it's ridiculous. The bottom line Airbnb is here for the money and that is it.

I hear you—it's especially unfair that dedicated hosts can be penalized for one negative review while those scamming the system are allowed to continue operating. It really does feel like the bottom line is all that matters to them now. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
