Private cheffing

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all having a great start to the weekend.

My name is Ella, I'm 25 and currently living and working in London as a chef.

Over the past few years I have been working in some of the best restaurants in London, including Michelin stared to master my craft and learn from the very best.  During my free time I also freelance for private clients.

However, I also have a strong desire for a change of pace from the hectic London life and - when funds permit- I love to travel and experience new places, cultures and cuisines.

Because of this strong desire I was wondering how possible it is to collaborate with hosts around the world as a private chef for their properties. Is this something that is common and welcomed by airbnb hosts? I would love to know some more information if possible, particularly in areas of South East Asia, such as Thailand.

Thank you so much for any help or advice, all is appreciated.

Best wishes,

Ella 🙂

If you have checked that you're legally allowed to work in Thailand contact hosts who've you've identified as your target market for your services.

however I would have thought most guests staying in STRs in Thailand would prefer to have a Thai chef specialising in cooking Thai food @Ella5666

@Helen3 Helen it may not surprise you too much if you check where the Brits like to holiday as well as Australians , who often  travel to Thailand, that sometimes ,at least Ossies like to eat food of a plainer nature and more like their day to day food as most travellers do.It is especially difficult for persons with dietary restrictions to find or translate ingredient lists ,while travelling. Also I would expect that any chef , worth their salt , would be able to pick up Thai cooking fairly quickly , especially since all ingredients , by the nature of travel to the country of the cuisine, are available. Also in asian countries 'fusion cooking ' is more than acceptable ... I think the biggest difficulty will be she's unlikely to get a work visa in Thailand for this sort of freelance work @Helen744

i can't agree the sort of British people likely to travel to Thailand want British food or that it's the sort cuisine anyone can pick and cook it as well as a Thai chef who understands regional variations, speaks the language, knows where to shop for the best ingredients etc

I loved Thai food when travelling there and of course it can accommodate various diets just as well as any other cuisine can .

Wonderful idea. We are all set with a chef, but just wanted to share that this year we started offering such a service with our listing (an island in the Caribbean) and has gone over very well; surprisingly guests are willing to pay handsomely for such a service. So good idea and good luck.
