Charging for heating propane pool

Charging for heating propane pool

I recently purchased a house that was operating as an airbnb. The prior owner suggested leaving between 78 -82 degrees. I went 78 but our first few guests wanted it warmer so we have raised to 83.

I calculated the first month was about $530 in propane (only used for pool).

i am now rethinking heating it and offering guests a daily charge

1. what is the going rate. Based on the above $527 from March to april it would work out at $17 a day. Im hearing prices of $45-60 a day that seams high

2. I live about 90 mins away and so if I am going yo charge each guest i would beed to insrall a smart system which would cost approx  $3k

3. is it reasonable to leave it off completely in summer months (May - Sept)
