French property classification

Bonjour!

I work for a company managing an Airbnb listing in France. I'd like to stress that our usual line of business isn't hospitality so I'm very much in the deep end and learning as I go. I'm trying to work out what classification the property is, and have come to the conclusion is doesn't have one!

Furnished Tourist? No, as the owner may be present //source https://bit.ly/3HUll9u

Bed and Breakfast? No, it's self catered //source Bed & Breakfast (and table d'hôtes) | Service-Public.fr

Tourist Residence? No, there's less than 50 beds! //source What is a tourist residence? – FNRT (fnrt-tourisme.fr)

And there doesn't seem to be any other potential category in the "Tourist Tax" information //source Tourist accommodation tax | Entreprendre.Service-Public.fr

Can anyone shed light onto what category an Airbnb listing might be, where the owner is present, multiple locked rooms are rented, there's a shared living space and kitchen and guests are self catered?

Many thanks!

How good is your French - I'm hoping that's it's good if you're dealing with the French administration as it's no picnic here😂  I have a great guide in French that explains everything you need to know about short term rental in France:

Is the chalet a secondary home for the owner or his primary residence (lives at least 8 months of the year)?  Is the listing in his name and you as a co-host?

Have a read of the link below concerning rooms on Airbnb and note that rooms cannot be in a company name:

Hi @Charles1775 ! Welcome to the Community Center!

Have you managed to figure out the ideal category for the listing in question, that can be added to the description of your listing? I was having a look through the lovely "Pléney Room", and seems like a perfect and comfy cabin-vacation getaway 😍

While we wait for experienced Hosts to share their thoughts and advice, I wanted to share a few articles that may help with some idea of Airbnb categories :

Hi @Charles1775 ,

The chalet looks amazing! But I’m not sure I understand your question. I think the proper Airbnb classification would be “private room.” If you are asking for the proper listing for French regulations, I can’t help there.

Best of luck!

Thanks @Charles1775 , yes it is the French classification I am looking for- that informs the registration for tourist tax, which then affects the listing- or at least as I understand it, which may be not 100%.
