How safe is running an AirBnB Villa in Catania, Sicily?

Hello,

I'm considering buying a villa in Catania, Italy which I'm planning on putting up on AirBnB and was wondering if someone might share their experience with me.

Having done my research online I have found lots of articles stating that Catania has got a problem with pickpocketing, muggings and theft. This obviously got me a little bit worried, so I thought to reach out to the community to hopefully get some insider information pretty please 🙂

So firstly, is this a real problem or are the internet articles inflating the problem which doesn't really exist?

Has anyone had any home break-ins into their AirBnB's or stuff stolen from the premises?

Does anyone have their villas covered by the local security firms or is this an overkill?

I'm equally interested to hear the good stories :)) so please let me know if your experience was great!!

Thanks so much,

Archie

@Artiom6 By 'local security firm' do you mean the Mafia?

La Cosa Nostra Security Limited sounds legit... lol
