Ottawa - Clarity on Short Term Rentals for Rural Properties

Ottawa - Clarity on Short Term Rentals for Rural Properties

I'm interested in purchasing an investment property within Ottawa for the purposes of short term rentals (AirBnB).

How do I figure out which rural property can be purchased for airbnb purposes and qualifies as a rural property not located in a village?

https://ottawa.ca/en/business/permits-and-licenses/short-term-rentals#section-e0aff4a1-9157-4e38-b54...
In a cottage or vacation home, secondary suite, or coach house in rural areas other than villages

I'm not clear from the above rule as to how to find out if a certain 'cottage' is not located in a village.

The link below seems to offer a better answer in terms of which zoning areas can be used (nearly all Rural properties seem to qualify) for short-term rental purposes:

Kindly please provide clarity in terms of how to find out if a certain property can be purchased as an investment property / cottage for short-term rental purposes without having to declare it as a principal residence.

Hi @Farhan65 👋

I just wanted to drop the link to the Airbnb Help Center article about hosting in Ottawa because it has some detailed step by step info there >> https://www.airbnb.co.uk/help/article/3220

Have you managed to find some clarity on the STR's? It would be great to hear from you. 😊
