No, at this point, I have no intention of signing up. I was just curious about it and about whether others knew of it/had tried it, seeing as Revolut is a pretty large company and yet I've never heard this mentioned before stumbling across the article.
I did a very quick search for rooms in London, and I have to say, the results didn't look promising. It was mostly those blocks with cookie cutter student type accommodation, e.g. a studio with kitchenette. And the other private rooms that came up weren't very appealing.
I also saw the VBRO label on a lot of them, which I thought was odd, because VRBO is not supposed to be for shared spaces. In fact, their current ad campaign is wholly focused on this point, i.e. you get the whole space to yourself. These listings labelled VRBO had the title 'entire apartment' etc, but were mostly just a room in a shared apartment/house.
The design wasn't too nice either. I think if they are planning to compete with Airbnb, they have a lot more work to do.
