What exactly you want to know?

In general: Yes, you have to pay income tax for any income (there are only very little expetions). You may be also need to  VAT (its 7%) and city tax in some cities.

May you tell a bit more about yourself? Which city are you renting a place? Do you have any other income? If yes: Do you run a business or are you employed? Do you rent the place or you own it?

Hi Steffen, been three years since the post but I am interested in the continuation here! Are you a tax specialist here in berlin??  I am dual citizen german/American both self employed, have a US lp and employed also!
