cancellation extenuating circumstance

Hello! What counts as an "extenuating circumstance" and if a guest has one and needs to cancel at short notice (even though I operate a strict cancellation policy) where does that leave me? Who decides and who covers the money lost if it is considered an "extenuating circumstance"?

Guests are encourage to purchase traveler's insurance to cover any loss due to cancellation. If they decide not to purchase insurance, then they can't very well ask the host to cover for them.

Hey guys! To whom shall I send my claim that I have cancelled as a host a reservation because of extanuating circumstance? 

I couldn't see any e-mail or contact written.

On your booking confirmation there should be a section. You will need to provide BnB with proof such unexpected works to your building, death in close family etc.
