I just had a guest instant book. The first message from them was I'll let you know our plans? I wrote back you instant booked, are you intending not to stay the booking reservation dates? They reply I'll let you know definite plans at a later time????
I called Airbnb and I'm going to get penalized if I cancel this booking?
I take pride in being a welcoming host, but I don't think this is a very considerate guest, your thoughts?

@Alison1039 You get to choose your cancellation policy. If you gain the benefits of a flexible policy then I am afraid you have to take the rough with the smooth. Personally I like our Strict policy because once 48 hours have expired post booking I know we will be paid something.
Agreed, I take hits with last minute cancellations par for the course. This is deliberate knowledge of that they booked and notified me saying that they hadn't made definite plans yet? Again one person's causing me to rethink my booking policy.
Thanks for your reply ☺️
@Alison1039 We don't offer a flexible policy simply because it allows guests to book early and then shop around at the last minute for a cheaper or better listing. I suspect many guests would not even feel bad about doing this as it is part of many host's offerings.
Definitely food for 🤔 I just listed in last year, so flexible cancellation policies made sense, think it's time to reevaluate.
Btw lovely Airbnb you have, I miss England so much.
Hey @Alison1039 👋
Did @Mike-And-Jane0 support with you making any changes to your listing? If so, it would be great if you could mark it as a best answer as it's a huge thank you! 🤗
Let us know how you got on! 😊
Thanks, Rebecca
I didn't realize I had to mark with best answers. I just did!
