Hi Airbnb Family, I’m Sumaira Haider, Airbnb host and the Founder of Four Dots Global , an international property management ...
Dear AirBNB, my travelling partner made the booking for our stay in Marrakesh. It was going to be the highlight of our stay and it is not a decision we made lightly. HOWEVER, coming from earthquake prone areas in the US, we understand that there are often aftershocks for even a month after. We will no longer have a feeling of peace and security while there knowing the buildings are older and could possibly be compromised (even if you can't see it yet). I know there will be travellers who want to go to Marrakesh anyway and that is THEIR decision, but AIRBNB should absolutely FULLY refund anybody who wants to cancel their stay within a month or so of the earthquake. Please reconsider this policy as you did for Maui.
Sorry to hear you canceled that leg of your trip. Did you change your itinerary in the end?
I had the same problem and Airbnb didn't want to refund me my money.
I think it's a shame that a company like Airbnb does something like that
I am having the same problem with the deadly earthquake in Japan. My trip is planned for just 5 days after the earthquake, and aftershocks are still happening everyday. Yet, Airbnb refuses to help and support guests and hosts in this disaster, and refuses to consider this as an event of extenuating circumstances.
