Bedding & towels

Hi, can you recommend what type of sheets and bedding covers and towels are best? Eg Hotel standard, Egyptian cotton etc? Any tips? TIA

Hi there @Alison1242 ,

Great question, I use Egyptian cotton bright colored stripe sheets that have lasted through years (I used Macy's Damask Collection here in US), make sure you touch the sheets to make sure they are thick enough and all cotton. Some guests like making sure the sheets are of high quality and you can't beat all Egyptian cotton. If there is a little polyester or microfiber in the composition, I just don't buy them. I would rather sheets look creased than be a non iron microfiber.

As for the bedding, I use all cotton handmade Quilts and decorative pillows and they look awesome on my beds, they are also 100% cotton and handmade and you really can't beat quality cotton when it comes to comfort and breathability. I host in boats and had to custom most of the bed spreads. These are alternatives of Duvets here in US but I know my family in London uses a duvet cover and just fitted sheets. Here we wrap a flat sheet over a bed spread or a quilt, or a duvet. It's just hot here all year so I rarely use duvets. I love using quilts that come with matching decorative pillows and when I used to rent out apartments (now I live on boats and host on boats), I used to use bed skirts that make the beds look awesome, considering there is no footboard.

Good luck and congrats on getting started. I don't see your listing yet but I suppose you are working on it. I miss Brighton! Lived in the UK for nearly a decade.

Rose.

Hi @Alison1242

Bedding and towels can make a world of a difference in a home! Are you looking to start hosting soon perhaps?

In addition to @Rose422's great insights, I wanted to ask a few of our other hosts what they would suggest based on their experiences as well: what do you think @Stacey413 @Fatima645 @Peace-Stays0 @Tim3904 and @Nalin67?

Looking forward to reading everyone's advice

Thanks,

Emilie

@Alison1242 Buy the highest quality, all natural sheets you can, and most importantly do not saturate them with smelly chemicals! The higher quality products will last longer and show that you care about your clients.
