I am from Lahore, Pakistan.  Weather of Lahore is known for extreme weathers.  Especially, in summer it is extremely hot.  So soft colors particularly white and shades of white is my personal choice.  Also soft colors brighten up the room and give a tranquility to ambiance.

Wooden floor, for me, always complement soft colors on walls and of course wooden furniture.

For me, I prefer calming shades combined with bright colours combined particularly white as it makes the place more comfy, relaxing, and an atmosphere that helps positive thinking. I would strongly suggest to ask the help of someone who is already either an expert or a professional in the field of Architecture and Design since they know better. 

I am blessed to have my wife who is in this field and so I regularly consult with her on this, and since we also have a small family business in design and fit-out, we have a team that will implement such scope of work. At the end of the day its a win-win situation for the host and especially for the guest.

I got the inspiration from my personal experience having travelled from a few countries and as we were doing fit-out projects.

Depends on the style of the home and the current paint on the outside. I personally don't like it when a home has a completely different personality from the outside.

We used Sherwin Williams Drift Mist.  By coincidence, It's the color of the month. We have a lot of color and the gray color serves as a base to make our fun colors stand out and not be chaotic.
