Hello,  Im having some situations I don’t know how to handle properly. Could someone please give me some advise about bed wetting, cooking huge meals and the smell left behind. I’m not sure what to say in the review or listing that addresses these issues. Thank you in advance for your response.

As to bed wetting that is a personal issue which should not be posted publicly regardless of age.

How to handle would be different.  I cover all my mattresses in a zippered plastic cover to avoid any kind of damage and protects from bug infestation.  I cover box springs also.  I also have Amazon bed accident pads.  They are cloth and washable.  Very handy to encourage availability for use to prevent period damage or if someone is vomiting.  Older or younger in a group may have accidents and guests appreciate just changing a pad and privacy respected by allowing them to choose.

As for cooking if the real issue for you is the smell not mess.  Sometimes amount of food cooked is not the issue just a different food culture to us so we think stinks and they think delicious. haha  I encourage everyone when cooking turn on the fan in the stove hood.  That helps.  If I know the guests nationality and I know the food smell is strong I can encourage windows open and such when cooking.  You probably have winter weather, for that  maybe try youtube for suggestions.  My husband goes there often to find answers.  We don't have new problems just new to us.

@Myra120. Hi Myra, I personally believe all these situations a good host should be prepared to deal with without mentioning in a review.

How adequate is the venting in your kitchen? If you have a full kitchen and provide equipment for people to cook then many are going to self cater to save money. I like to get in straight after a check out and if I sense strong cooking smells lingering I open up the place, put on the exhaust fan and make sure the extraction unit vents are washed.

You have a loft area above kitchen so is the cooktop vented outside or recirculating or none?- I cant tell from pics? Its worth investing in good ducting in the long run imo, even if you have to rejig some cupboards.

Hi @Myra120

Hosts minimise the impact of bed wetting by having waterproof casing for mattresses .

not quite sure what you mean by the impact of large meals ?

Do you have instructions for guests to used whatever ventilation system you have when using the cooker.

some hosts use ozone machines to get rid of smells .
