[GAME] Spot the link

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all holding up ok. In these strange times we’ve seen ourselves in over the last few months, I’ve found that a bit of light distraction can work wonders to relieve the stress, and I know you’ve all had fun lately with some emoji games.

I’ve come up with this game to get that grey matter working  💭   The aim is to spot the linking word that fits with each of these sets. 

Here’s an example to get you going: for PINE, PIE, TREE the linking word is ‘apple’. 

As always, please keep it to one guess per reply so that everyone can have a go (@Stephanie  and @Liv  found these quite hard, so get in there quickly with the easy ones!).

@Katie I feel like 7 is RING, but I don't know how that goes with "fence"...

@Ann72A Ringfence is a very old word for a (ring shaped)  fence ensuring enclosure of land - think of circa's when people had limited resources & used scoria, rocks/ stones to build fences or planted trees / hedges to keep cattle in or keep cattle out....and provide them with shelter from the elements, including on farms on the hills.. moats... Stonehenge .....

We also use it as a financial term here in the UK - for example when the government 'ringfences' funds for a particular purpose 🤓
