Back in August we got the 'bright' idea that despite the fact we were already well booked the coming months of November (2023) - May (2024) already, it would be 'nice' if we made a 'few changes' to our place. Well, we did the changes but the simple act of replacing our wood walls and decks to our island (the initial Pandora's Box) with rock and at the same time create just a 'bit' more land, we thought would only take a 'couple of weeks'. Not exactly.
The rocks took forever to bring out, to then move to places the barge could never reach, the landscape (now bare) needed trees, a pavillion was now needed, a landing dock and building had to be constructed since boats couldn't reach the island on any place otherwise. More solar power became obvious (to light up a larger place), more fresh water (via boat!) to feed the 32 new trees, plumbing & electricity to new places, dealing with more workers, 3x over budget, etc, etc.
It took us 4 months to close (aka finish) the initial 'bright' idea that seemed so simple 4 months ago! Everything else in our lives was put on hold meantime, including even my posting here. Day & night we toiled all of September to November when the first guests started arriving, and since then finish a million little details in between their visits.
Was it worth it? The future will tell. In the meantime this is where this ended up:

Moral of the story? The bigger the Pandora's Box one opens, the harder it is to close it.
