Blocked dates in calendar got booked

I just opened my AirBnB 2 days ago and received a flood of bookings. I blocked off certain dates reserved for family visits a few weeks away so they wouldn’t get booked. However, AirBnb booked them anyways.

Is this a known thing? Are blocked dates not really blocked? I see other people claiming this on outside forums and support claims they were unblocked (I verified twice before any bookings were received)

We experienced this for a date we had blocked. Had to decline the request because Airbnb wouldn't provide support with the issue.
