Changing Requested Dates

We received a request to book for the month of July... everything looks normal.  Then the guest indicated they would actually like to book October instead.  Sounds easy enough, right? 

 

Wrong!

- The guests tried to change the date but it reverted back to July.

- I tried sending a special offer but the guest says the final numbers were not the same, even though they were the same on my end.

- I removed special offer and they tried changing dates again but it still kept showing the wrong dates.

- Finally I went to just deny their request to get it out of the system but Airbnb wants to block my entire month off from the original request.  😐 

 

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?  I would appreciate the feedback on the best way to proceed.

Are you talking about your Charmingly Charleston at Colonial Lake listing? You mentioned Airbnb wants to block your entire month off from the original request. Did you mean the guest can book neither July nor October? If so it might be due to your declination. Just fyi from my end I can still book the entire July and Oct. You'd want to give Airbnb a call to explain the situation.

 

It works the best for me when I have guests who want to change their dates. I accept their booking first and change the dates for them.

Make sure the original and the new payout matches. This is the part you receive. How much they pay is the Guest total.

They will get an e-mail and once they accept it. The change is complete.

Hi Vicky,  Yes that is my listing.  They can book July but they would like to book October.  Each time they try to change the dates, the system reverts back to the original dates in July. 😞

 

When I tried to deny the reservation, Airbnb wanted to block out the entire month of July (the time they requested).  I finally just said my place would not be a good match and it allowed me to decline without penalty.

 

However, on the guests' side, it STILL will not let them change the dates in October.  Perhaps they are not that tech savvy but this should not be so terribly hard.  Right now, I do not have a booking and they do not have a place to stay. 

 

And of course customer service is not anything either of us want to subject ourselves to at this time.
