Local Municipality Viewing your Property

Does anyone know how a local municipality can see my rentals? when I rent? how much I am renting for? etc?

@Matthew2008 I guess they go on Airbnb.com and search for properties in their area. If there is a local tax collection agreement in place with Airbnb they may also get booking info direct from Airbnb.

Is there a reason this is a problem?

In addition to what @Mike-And-Jane0 said, there are programs that governments use to track STRs. The most widely used is called Host Compliance.
