Hello everyone!
I will be away starting tomorrow until the 6th of March.
Finally, I will be flying to The Netherlands to visit family and friends after 2 years of not having seen them (only via video calls). I will leave the community in the capable hands of @Sybe and @Emilie, so please feel free to direct all your questions to them should you have any ๐
Take care, and see you soon!
Quincy
Ooh yes please! Some Wilhelmina pepermuntjes or stroopwafels would be nice. ๐
Hello from Takapuna Beach, Auckland, New Zealand in the summer sun
@Emiel1 @Quincy @Sybe @J-Renato0 and everyone-else
Nice to have yummy Dutch Treats whilst enjoying some sun, swimming in the sea, scenery and sand.
For those who may not have tried Zoute Drops, they are a type of Liqourice - I personally prefer the lightly salted ones however they come in non salted and honey flavours to.
Did you buy them yourself at Jumbo in the Netherlands ?
Next time also try "Engelse Drop" (Liquorice allsorts):

What is the specialty candy in your region?
Delicious! I always do some last minute grocery shopping at the Albert Heijn grocery store at Schiphol airport @Helen427! My shopping is basically, liquorice, stroopwafels, and various other items that I can't get in the UK ๐.
However, as @Emiel1 mentioned, I am also curious where you got your liquorice from!

A company named JJ Jacobson's in Wellington import and distribute Dutch and European small goods and treats.
We used to have a shop called Bin Inn in Remuera who had a great selection and there's also a scattering of Holland/ Dutch Shops across New Zealand - unfortunately one needs to travel around 30 or so minutes to our nearest one.
That may be a blessing as those treats are supposed to be treat foods.
I'm sure all the local school children who I encouraged to try the Chalk Liquorice are disappointed they are no longer in our area..
On our walks we sometimes suggest other specialty shops reach out to sell European treats as there's a good market out there to be tapped into.
