Airbnb UK tax electric and gas as expenses

Hi There

I'm thinking of hosting two spare rooms in my house on airbnb.  I'll be living in the house.

When it comes to filling out a tax return how much can I put down for Gas and Electricity?

Can I expense my gas and electric bills for the entire year?  Even if I only rented out the room for 100 nights?

thanks

Have you looked up the gov rent a room scheme @Damien438

if not start there . This maybe a better set up.

If not - look on the HMRC website for a list of allowance expenses

of course you can't claim your whole house gas and electric bill. It's a proportional allowance for the two rooms x number of days.

@Damien438 you need to do a detailed search on the gov.uk website for tax manuals or hire an accountant. I very much doubt you can expense all the bills let alone for the whole year.

Also does the rent a room scheme apply to people renting 2 rooms -again gov.uk will tell you.
