Canada Tax rules

Hello. I am reaching out to fellow Canadian hosts. My wife and I run an Airbnb in our home. It is only my name on the Airbnb account...my wife is listed as a co-host. Back in September I had to enter my SIN number into my Airbnb account in order to continue to list. My wife and I always put our Airbnb earnings onto her yearly tax return because I earn more money. I am concerned this will flag a problem for my next Tax return as CRA has my SIN and not my wife's. Does anyone know if I can have both our names on the Airbnb account so I can replace my SIN with hers? Or, with her being a co-host can I just replace my SIN with hers? It is proving very difficult to get through to Airbnb support regarding this issue. What options do I have? Thank you.

If you wanted the income to go to your wife why did you set yourself as the main host @Gary1428 ?

I am not sure how you fix this now . Maybe change her cohost fee to 90% and you are then only taxed on 10%

Hi @Helen3 . Good question. Long before we started host on Airbnb, I opened up my account for travelling purposes. My wife and I then decided to become Airbnb hosts and I set it up under my existing account. The last couple of years it has not been an issue as my wife has declared the earnings on her income. However, this year, the Canadian Revenue Agency made it mandatory for me to add my tax details (SIN number) into the Airbnb account details before we could continue receiving bookings. I don't want to close the account and put it under my wife's name as we have two years of excellent reviews and superhost status. Thank you for your suggestion as this may be a route forward.
