Guest arriving in 5 days (staying in our studio apartment) asked, Would you ask about the health and well-being of your current guest(s) before they leave on Saturday?

This guest wanted to know if our Airbnb would be empty for 3 days before his arrival. When I told him no, he sent this message:

Guest:  Would you ask about the health and well-being of your current guest(s) before they leave on Saturday? A negative Covid-19 test and complete vaccination records would be reassuring, but I understand the reality of the situation.

Also, would you please air out the space prior to my arrival. A fan with open windows creating a cross breeze for a few hours would help.

I received my booster shot this month, but the Omicron variant is more transmissible, the number of cases is increasing, and the vaccine coverage is still questionable. We’re still in the thick of it unfortunately.

Me, the host: I told him I did not know if I was allowed to ask theat question, but I would find out. I am asking other hosts how they would handle the situation. I have already told him my cleaning  and sanitizing routine. He is a 30 day guest so I would like him to stay with us.

@Ruth54 As this person travels to your place during a pandemic, they are at risk of contracting Covid. Not sure why they would be concerned to that degree about the space they will arrive to. They should just stay home. Regardless, you have agreed to the Covid EC protocol, which presumably you are following, so you can outline for this person what your cleaning routine is. Of course, airing the space is one of the steps.

I would never ask previous guests about the state of their health, nor for their personal medical status, to share with a perfect stranger, no less. Good grief.

Personally, if this was my soon to be guest, I would be finding a way to cancel the stay. Too much possibility for things to go sideways.

I agree with @Colleen253 . This guest is obviously hypochondriac and he will forensically inspect every spoon and every doorknob and if he finds one fingerprint anywhere you will be in trouble 😄

I wouldn't message my guests on checkout to ask if they are sick besides, this theory about the virus spreading from surfaces is abandoned long ago.

@Ruth54  I would not want to host this person.  He will find something wrong with the cleaning set up no matter what you do.
