I have never had a serious problem with Airbnb. I have been a Superhost from Day 1. I have two listings: one a house in the mountains ( "big listing" ) and the other a carriage house apt. in town ( " little listing"). They made a deal with the State on big listing which requires me to file quarterly reports with the State and monthly "occupancy" reports and payments to the county which contributes nothing to the cause but is a "cost of doing business." I could deal with that, but took down the big listing because we live there now during the Virus. Now they made a deal with the other State on the little listing. This was like the rule of unintended consequences. When I started the little listing, I was told by the State and the City that there were no taxes, licenses etc. required. No mas. Now, the fact that we in the City and another county are highlighted by their deal with the State, people will be forced to get "licenses" and put up with the usual bureaucratic runaround plus another round of "hotel" taxes, City taxes, County taxes and I will net $40 per day. I enjoyed doing this for the service and helping people find reasonable accomodation and not the money, but for $40 bucks a day and the bureaucratic nightmare, I might as well put a stick in my eye. I have been beaten by the lodging lobbies and decided it just ain't worth the trouble anymore. Hasta la vista.
