Lobbying city to allow short-term rentals

Any tips for convincing a community to allow short-term whole-home rentals? They are blocked in Shrewsbury, Missouri.

Most people are persuaded by appealing to their self interests and that is quite true when it comes to the controversy around short term rentals in many cities.  Consider how you would show that allowing short term rentals would ADD to the City.  Be aware of and address the concerns residents have about short term rentals.  Develop a pro and con list to address.  For the pro, have evidence that supports the pro and for the con, have solutions that address concerns.  Many local host groups have dealt with these situations.  If there are any local host groups in your area, contact them.  Good luck!
