Lodging Taxes

Does Airbnb automatically assume lodging taxes? My property is outside of city limits and where it is located does not fall under a municipal Lodging tax. How is this legally being charged to the guests?

The taxes Airbnb collects are random it appears.  I have contacted them numerous times about using the wrong rate at several of my properties and they have completely ignored me.  The question is how they submit these taxes and whether they just write one big check to the taxing authority and the taxing authority takes their word for it?

@Kirk158 Are you sure one of these taxes doesn't apply?

Taxes on accommodation such as Occupancy Tax, VAT or GST. May also include tourism fees. Local Sales and Use Tax (Jasper) Sales and Use Tax (Missouri)

If you have pro tools switched on you should be able to set the correct taxes yourself.
