Osceola county FL and Florida sales tax and tourist tax

Hello I’m new to the air bnb and trying to figure out this whole taxes situation. Can any one help me? I’ve already obtained all the necessary licenses and know about both different taxes state 7.5% and tourist (county) tax 6%

I need some instructions on how to file those or if anyone knows a reasonable company that would do that for me? I don’t know how hard that is going to be and I I can do it myself! Thanks

Thank you for the information Paula. I think is very helpful and I’m starting to get the hang of it. I appreciate it

@Waykis0 Hey were you able to figure out the licensing. I need desperate help since I am starting right now and cannot figure it out.

Hello @Zen469 . Yes, I ended up going to the Osceola county licensing and they explained it to me how to calculate. Also, they have an online system that you can calculate and you can pay the taxes directly with them. I recommend you go see them and speak to them directly. If you can’t, they also can help you via email.

Hello @Waykis0 !! I'm new to AIRBNB, and a little overwhelmed with all the taxes information, it's a lot!

Would you please be so kind to help me out here?,.... in order for you to pay the tourist development tax, i guess you had to register with Osceola tax collector. In the registration process, they ask for the Florida Sales tax number.

So, to get one of those, you had to register with the Florida Department of Revenue.

Am I correct?

I thought we did not have to register with FL DOR, since AIRBNB takes care of the taxes that go to the state, but since we need to manually add the Tourist Development Tax, we have to register with them as well (with FL DOR). Wouldn't that cause for them to double tax our income?

@Tania955 Hello Osceola county requires to get a state tourist tax DBPR and so you can get their tax license. You would just report 0 value with the state each year but you can to call the state so they can explain how to do it. Both the state and Osceola tax collector are great at explaining the taxes. You will be amazed of how quickly you learn. Good luck 🍀

Oh! So, I will just have to register with Florida Department of Revenue (FL DOR), for me to be able to then register for the Tourism Development Tax with Osceola. Thanks so much for the info  🙂

try to go to Osceola county first and find out all of the details and then reach out to the state for their license.
