Southwestern North Carolina Investment

My husband and I are thinking about buying a 2/2 home in SW NC to rent as a short term rental.  He would make the investment, and I would manage, remotely from Florida.  What tips and suggestions do you have for us?  What is the area like for STR’s?  How do I find a good handyman, service vendors to do jobs when I am in FL?  Cleaning service?
