Standardization of Tourism Industry in Sri Lanka

Hi I'm Charit , Running a two Villa apartments in Down south more than a year now. What i can observe in  this industry is not having proper guidelines for Host community from Sri Lankan Government. So Host community lose the sustainability of the business due to lack of awareness. Airbnb is a good platform to study of the business and share the experience. I think our local host should get engaged in this platform more and more to share ideas and level up the standards of our industry. Open to conversation. Thanks

Hello @Charit127 👋

We love a good conversation here on the Community Center. I'd like to invite some experienced hosts from Sri Lanka to join this conversation.

@Sanjeewa15@Nuwan15 and @Selvin6 - it would be great to hear your thoughts on this!

Hey Charit, Rebecca and Team,

I totally agree with you! I’ve been hosting down south as well, and I’ve noticed the same thing. There’s definitely a lack of proper guidelines and support from the government, which makes it hard for hosts to maintain sustainable business practices.

I think it would be great if we could form a local host community where we share tips and ideas on things like guest handling, pricing strategies, and maintaining quality standards. It would also help if we could come together to approach local authorities and push for better support and clearer guidelines.

Using this platform to share experiences and learn from each other is definitely a good start. It would be awesome to see more Sri Lankan hosts get involved and exchange ideas. Let’s keep the conversation going and build a stronger host community!

Cheers,
