May be a silly question but bothered me a lot.
Do I have to obtain a tax ID for long-term renting (more than 28 days per guest) in Toronto?
I received an email from Airbnb asking to obtain the tax ID for all the listings.
Is that the same thing with MAT?
I called 311. They said I am not qualified for "short-term" rental so the rules should not apply to me. They said what I am doing is more like long-term renting like the listings in MLS.
I am confused now. If I am doing long-term then why does the guest need to pay HST? Why do I have to obtain a TAX ID?
Any thoughts appreciated!
