Tax de sejour

Hi,

I’m wondering if anyone can help.

I have an Airbnb property in France.  I registered it with the Mairie last year as a holiday rental.

Airbnb have been charging guests tax de sejour as they’ve been booking.  No issues there.

I’ve recently have a bill from the Mairie for the tax de sejour for last year.

I’ve explained to them that it’s already been paid via Airbnb.

In fact the total Airbnb deductions for tax de sejour was actually higher than the bill from the Mairie.

The Mairie have come back to say that they collect the tax de sejour, no-one else, and that I still need to pay the bill.

I want to handle this carefully with the Mairie.  They shouldn’t receive the tax de sejour twice.

What is the best way to take this forward?

Has anyone had any similar issues?

I look for to hearing from you.

Best wishes, Paul.

@Paul11866 I think you would be better off asking on the French host group as hosts there are more likely to know..

As our host Helen suggested, it would be better for you to get specific help by asking this question in 👉 The French Community.

Hi @Paul11866

I am curious about the French taxes too. Did you happen to find an answer to your question about the tax to the Maire?
I have registered my apartment with the local tourist tax office in Cannes at the Maire, but my question is if Airbnb automatically transfers the tax to the city?
As far as I can see, I have to declare the stays every 3 months on the website of Maire in Cannes.

Best Regards
Lulu
