Hi guys,
I am hoping you can help me as I'm not sure if I have to charge the levy or not.
We live on a farm in the Macedon Ranges, been in the family since 1862. To supplement our farm income and keep us on the land we decided to build 2 purpose built short stay rentals. Our home is on the property and council regulations will not allow any other permanent dwellings on the land.
We went through council with the build, obtaining all the necessary permits for the accommodations. They were classed by council as 'group accommodation' (because there are 2 of them). They are registered with the ATO and have an ABN attached to our Primary Production business.
We haven't taken any housing out of the long term rental market, and of course we cannot rent them long term. Can anyone tell me if they will they be subject to the levy.
