WARNING: AIRBNB WON'T PROTECT HOST

Some guest stole my apple charger, but airbnb refused to cover. They said, all the things in public area won't be protected by airbnb. So, a warning to other guest, don't leave anything in public space, airbnb encourages guest to steal everything in public space. No matter it's a printer or a charger, airbnb won't cover it. The other thing is that, don't rent your room to guest without 5 star review.

@Michael6964  well I feel your pain, but a phone charger? It's a petty thing to steal, sure, but I can't imagine ABB refunding you over such a small item, that the guest might have erroneously taken. 
here's a tip: got to any hotel in LV, and say you've (or your parents) recently stayed and left a phone charger, you don't want to be a bother about it, but perhaps they have a box of spares behind the counter? Cos generally, they do. Go and get yourself a free replacement 🙂 

I'm sure someone who does private room hosting will have some tips on how to avoid this situation in the future.

OK, @Michael6964, I appreciate you're venting, but Airbnb doesn't 'encourage guest to steal everything in public space', so perhaps take a breath and think about it. People - in general - don't go about life looking to steal other people's chargers; it's more of a mistake. But if there's something you value so much you'll grizzle if it goes walkies, don't leave it around.

I list a room and have provably lost half-a-dozen small items in 300+ bookings; it's part of running a business. Ask a hotel manager how many towels they lose a day!

@Michael6964 Things are mistakenly picked up, misplaced, or even stolen all the time. That doesn’t mean airbnb encourages theft. So that this doesn’t happen in the future, just go to Walmart and purchase some cheap-o chargers for lying around your rental and keep your Apple charger either on your person or out of view. 

Also, your statement about only hosting guests with 5* swings both ways. Guests can take the same stance and not rent from hosts with less than 5*. It’s best to just read hosts’ reviews of guests and make a decision based on the reviews, not just the stars.
