taxes landlords Europe Spain updates 2024 fair? how? when?

Hi everyone who makes it to this thread.  I thought I would put a post here with the latest updates we have experienced on Airbnb in regards to:

Taxes in Europe;

Taxes in Spain;

Landlord (private or company);

Fairness;

Hosting and Host tax obligations;

Taxes in Canary Islands;

As there seems to be little if any relevant spaces here to discuss these topics, vent or a place to maybe find relevant helpful information.

We just experienced the latest tax update on Airbnb and spent the last 30 minutes filling in drop down box selections to better describe our business and hosts and how they exist in Spain and Europe under our business of Hello House Hostel Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Spain SL (yes our name was too long for the Airbnb drop down bubble so we abbreviated as Hello House Hostel LPGC Spain SL to allow us to save the info).

The best part of the newest tax information sharing update on Airbnb was the easy flow chart that showed our progress in meeting tax information obligations on the platform.  So good news is we have finally updated everything correctly and hopefully this means our listings will return to more prominent page views on the platform.  Good luck out there and feel free to post here your thoughts, experiences, vents or ideas to meet tax obligations (hopefully without going broke or even worse into unsustainable debt).  🙂

FYI:  Do to updates to Google PlayStore and Apple Play Store and the age of our mobile devices (rugged water resistant Blackview Phones) we use to manage our listings we have been forced to return to using logins through the web browser.  Hint: fastest method to login this way (web browser) is to use the phone number, SMS method.

FYI: despite being a host with many years on Airbnb, ratings matter more then history of good service to guests.  Sadly, new listings still get preferential treatment and first page views more so then hosts and listings with constant repetitive experience overall.  The algorithm still favours fly by night vs hosts with long term history.  Hopefully these new tax updates and the extra burdensome of paperwork will level this unfairness towards new listings.  We have certainly seen similar listings in our category of shared beds and rooms, hostels, who delete and remake their listings time and again be favoured for front page and first look views despite no reviews compared to ours with history.  Even when constantly updating information on "old" listings with 5+ years of reviews behind them, these experienced listings, can be left off front page views and searching when guests select categories, pricing, map area etc.   This iw an unfortunate glitch that is still not addressed.  Maybe this tax paperwork and checking will reduce the favouritism in the algorithm towards the new listings posted or being rehashed as "new" by businesses who do game the system.  We don't think the "you are only as good as your last guest stay" should vastly outweigh "time tested, highly reviewed, hosting and listings".
