Very disappointed with Airbnb right now- I was able to arrange for a mutual cancellation with a guest for an upcoming booking. They are an international student and stuck in the UK, so you can only imagine how hard this situation is for them. Poor guy.
As to avoid getting penalised I ask them to initiate the cancellation and I would approve the remaining refund which I did. Now in true Airbnb they manipulated their system by sending a « resolution payout » instead of processing the full refund as to keep their reservation fee but they thank me for their kindness.
This is beyond disappointing- and frankly I don’t know how to best deal with it. Any input would be great and before responding I am calling myself down, this situation frustrates me to no end but it does not warrant an emotional response.
