**sholes at the city of LA sending my a code violation notice when I'm CLOSED

I shut down in May of this year. My City of LA registration expires on June 1. My dormant listing explicitly says at the top of the page that "I have shut down until 2021" and my calendar dates are greyed out because I have no dates available. That didn't stop the **sholes at the city from sending me a "notice of code violation". They even posted a screenshot of the page (that they never bother to read)!

Anyway, just warning others in LA who may have shut down due to coronavirus.

@Pete69,

If you snoozed your listing would that satisfy the city?  It wouldn't show up in search results.

Their language says "The Home-Sharing Ordinance prohibits any listing of a short-term rental without a valid home-sharing registration number (or pending status registration number)."

The operative word is "listing", which is a grey area. What constitutes listing? The city of LA is run by socialists so I'm sure they'll interpret it any way they want to without impunity.

@Pete69 you have three options on airbnb- snooze, unlist and delete. Snooze and unlist are the same thing with snooze automatically re-activating on a certain date. While you will not appear in search, your listing can be found somehow. Not sure how because even a direct link does not work. In the eyes of cities that police STR, you have a fully functioning airbnb. The reason why I know this is because a woman here in Chicago closed her rental but unlisted instead of deleting. She was fined something like $3k per day for advertising an unlicensed Airbnb for a total of over 50k. Can you just renew your license? If you delete the listing you lose all of your reviews

I sure won't be deleting my listing along with all of my 42 reviews and perfect 5.0 rating. Today I discovered the "snooze" feature.

The woman in Chicago should have fought the city. There must be more to that story.

If dates are all blocked out then nobody can book. The city of LA doesn't say "advertising" -- It says "listing". They don't define "listing". It can be interpreted to mean "bookable", which mine is not because I have no dates available, and that should prevent people from seeing my listing in searches. Anyway, I'll post the rest of the story when I hear back from the city. I sent them a nasty email today.

@Pete69  she probably and hopefully did. I think those ordinances are vague on purposes so they can be used fines when city is strapped for cash. Which is always in Chicago but even more so now

Sorry to hear about the issues you are having. @Pete69

Are you intending to list this property again but not for a year?

When I was moving to a new property, I snoozed my listing so that no further bookings could be made on the original property.

When I deleted the original property when I moved the reviews still show on my profile.
