Asking guests for ID/Passport

Dear Airbnb community,

After receiving many questionable and awkward booking requests, I have decided to start asking for a photo of your ID to confirm the booking. However, I was wondering if it could be seen by the guests as strange, as it is normal to ask for the ID after the confirmation.

I would also like to know if there are any laws in Germany on this subject that I can cite when asking them for the ID photo.
