I have been hosting for a while now and am a proud Super Host which I have worked hard for. I have a question I cant find an answer for on the Airbnb site. I have 'instant book' if I do not want to host a guest again and stated that in my review (obviously not publicly), can this person book automatically or is she 'blocked' from booking my my accommodation again?
We had a disgusting couple, they were just ew!!!!
Thanks Christine 🙂
@Christine2894 If you click on that you wouldn't host this guest again, they won't be able to IB with you. But they will still be able to send a request to book.
And please let other hosts know in the written review about the cleanliness issue with these guests. Please don't give low stars, a thumbs down, and then a non-commital generic nice written review. Hosts who don't use IB cannot see guests' star ratings- we rely on the written review. And there is nothing wrong with saying in the public review that you wouldn't host these guests again. Hosts say that in reviews quite often.
Thanks Sarah,
I just wish people would respect the fact that our accommodation is part of our HOME not a hotel, these guests should have brought their own sheets! My husband says its something we have to tolerate, and yes maybe to a degree but never like this couple.
I will see how it goes with IB as we have just come out of lockdown and we need the income, however I can always change it.
Thank you for your advice.
Welcome to the community 😊
You're not alone. My multiple listings are instantly booking. I've gone through a particularly rough patch of many filthy guests.
In inevitable fact, I will block them after the checkout. I'm not interested in hosting dirty guests in the future because of the cleanliness issue.
I'll look into it, take photos before the clean-up, ask for an extra charge of cleaning fee through Resolution Center, and before the next guest arrives.
Usually, the guests wouldn't agree to pay the extra cleaning fee.
I would give an honest and fair review but a low score on cleanliness, and I wouldn't recommend the guest to other hosts.
As below Airbnb help article,
To report a message from someone or block any future communication from them:
If you block someone, they won't be able to send you messages, send you a reservation request, or accept a reservation request from you.
How do I block I report a message and block someone?

Happy Hosting✌️
@Christine2894 I can always change it" is a great approach. I sometimes read host posts where they are agonizing over whether to turn IB on or off, whether they will lose bookings if they institute 3 day minimum, if they increase their price or add a cleaning fee, or if they should change their cancellation policy.
No settings are written in stone- a host can try something out and if they find it's not working for them or stressing them out, it can always be changed.
@Christine2894 I wonder if this is maybe the guest who you reviewed just by saying "Glad you had fun on your Anniversary." Not sure all future hosts will get the subtlety, but that sounds like some next-level shade to me! 🙂
I notice that your listing does not advise guests to bring their own sheets, so I can't see a reason anyone would have done so. Perhaps when cleaning the bedroom you were confronted with things you can't un-see on the sheets and just said "not today, Satan!" And you can be sure, hotel housekeepers do not like that one bit more than you do, and still endure it for less pay. One little problem is, there doesn't seem to be any consensus on what the etiquette is when someone's nocturnal adventures have soiled the sheets. Some hosts believe the guests should strip the bed completely, whereas others want the linens left in place to inspect for inventory and stains. Some hosts will find the whole thing so awful that they just throw away the sheets. Some even ask guests to wash the sheets, although that can result in a poorly executed wash making the situation worse.
Hotels send everything to an industrial laundry and pretend it never happened. Hosts who don't have this luxury might be better off communicating their expectations in advance.
@Christine2894 If you are selective about who gets to stay in your home, Instant Book is not for you. In theory, the thumb icon for "would not host again" might suppress the guest's ability to IB your home again, or maybe it won't - there's no official policy for this, so all we have to go by is urban legends. Any business you go into, you have to be on guard against problem customers, and this one is no exception.
#dear airbnb. We have just said goodbye to an extremely dirty and antisocial guest. (smoking pot, not flushing the toilet, etc., etc.,) They would be unpleasant for any other host to accept. How do I let airbnb know that these guests are not really nice people, and are not to be hosted again??
Firstly, please leave an honest review to warn future hosts about this guest. However, do not mention the pot, as the guest can ask for a review to be removed if drug use is mentioned. Instead, just say that the guest broke your house rules by smoking and that there were serious issues with cleanliness and that you would not recommend this guest.
Mark them down in the star categories and select, no, I would not host this guest again when you see that option.
You can also report the guest by going to the message thread, clicking the flag on one of his/her messages and selecting report. Then you can give your reasons.
The Community Centre is for hosts and guests to hold discussions, you are not speaking directly to airbnb when you post here. If you want to contact Airbnb customer services, you need to call them, message them or start an online chat via the Airbnb website, not this one. At the beginning of the Help section here there is a post with contact details for Airbnb.
@Terry357 You have to leave an honest review to warn other hosts.
Reporting them to Airbnb for smoking pot and being antisocial and dirty will accomplish nothing.
