Do you provide gym equipment in your listing?

Hi everyone,

As people are turning towards a healthy lifestyle, it might be interesting to include gym or yoga equipments to the listing. I'm curious to know if the hosts in our community provide any fitness gear for guests?

Do you go with simple equipments such as dumbbells ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿป, yoga mats ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ or treadmills ๐Ÿƒ?

How do your guests react to having such fitness amenities?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Regards,
Elisa

Hi Elisa,

Yes, I actually reached out to both of the guests that their electric bills were $700-$900 and asked them to please make sure to turn off the lights when they weren't using them or at home. The one guests complied, but they were already at the end of their month. The other guests told me that they were doing that and didn't know why the bill was so high. Both months that they were there, the bills were over $750. The neighbors and my fulltime back building tenants told me they left every light on all hours of the day and night. It was so frustrating because I had no recourse to collect any deposit or compensation for $1900 worth of 70 days of electrical abuse.

Hi @Tiffany955 ๐Ÿ˜Š,

It is frustrating!  Especially when thereโ€™s little you can do to manage energy usage directly.

Have you considered implementing any energy-saving measures, like automatic timers or motion sensor lights, to help control electricity costs with future guests?

Warm regards, ๐ŸŒป

No real equipment.  A few free weights in the laundry room.

Hi @Susie332 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you very much for sharing this with other Hosts!

It is very nice to offer those equipment. Do your guests use them? How did you come up with the idea?

Warm regards, ๐ŸŒป

Hi @Steven-And-Carmen0 ๐Ÿ˜Š

this is wonderful, well done!

I am curious, why did you choose the treadmill?

No, too much liability.

Hi @Suzy0 ๐Ÿ˜Š,

I understand your point!

Did you have guests who were asking for sport activities, though?

Warm regards, ๐ŸŒป

I do not have a gym or gym equipment. If I did then yes I would list this amenity.

Hi @Tonia649 ๐Ÿ˜Š

You are right! Thank you for sharing this.

Why did you choose not to have a gym or gym equipment?

Warm regards, ๐ŸŒป

We are in Montana so the outdoors we consider to be your gym while youโ€™re here.  And none of our homes have the space for gym equipment either.  Weโ€™ve also never been asked if we had any nor has anyone departed stating they think we should invest in any. Many guests do state what you are missing too.

Hi @Tia8972 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for sharing your perspective!

Itโ€™s great that guests appreciate the natural beauty of Montana. ๐Ÿ˜

Have you noticed any specific outdoor activities that your guests enjoy the most?

Warm regards, ๐ŸŒป

Yes, I offer a few things.

Currently I offer some hand weights, yoga mats, boxing gloves, punching bag, and bikes, plus possible use of a wind trainer.

I am planning on building an outdoor workout space next summer.  Also possibly a putting green area and shuffle board.

It is also a great walking community with a few parks close by.  I let my guests know that walking is common in the neighborhood and where parks are.
