Furniture Supplier

Furniture Supplier

Dear Community,

Has anyone got any recommendations with respect to furniture suppliers?

Is it better to rent or to buy generally?

Can anyone provide advice to a total novice?

 Thanks

Hi @Isbar0

I'm sure furnishing your listing can be quite the daunting task! I thought I'd send you a link to a thread you might find helpful >> https://community.withairbnb.com/t5/Ask-about-your-listing/Small-Apartment-Studio-Furniture/m-p/1674...

There are also some super experienced hosts on the community who might be able to offer some advice about renting or buying furnishings. Do you have any thoughts you could share @Fred13@Nur785@Inna22

@Breanna thanks for tagging me. Always a pleasure to help @Isbar0 assuming you are in the US, I like wayfair. They have a short term rental section. I like walmart for kitchen supplies and I get bedframes on amazon. I like to mix the sterility of those items with some second hand store finds. Couches is where I struggle. I have had decent luck with value city

@Isbar0 This depend on where you are. Assuming you are in the US... This has been my strategy.

I NEVER pay retail for furniture.

I furnished all my listings from estate sales where they sell good quality furniture for fraction of a price. I try to practice recycling and upcyling items in my personal life and try to minimize my "new" purchases, but this holds true especially for furnishing rentals.

Shopping estate sales is also a lot cheaper than renting furniture and if something breaks, you won't care all that much.

For estate auctions I like auction ninja . You bid online and then go and pick up stuff. I managed to get very high end and good quality furniture for pennies on the dollar. I got boxes of fine china for a few dollars and when guests break dishes, I don't care, because the china set was not complete and I can always find a new set.

It's different for bedding and towels. Like @Inna22 said, I like Wayfair to buy sheets because you can actually find 100 % cotton without the price tag usually attached to it. but that's really the extent of stuff I buy new.

I hope this helps.

@Inna22 Did you try online estate sales?  I got two  brand name sleeper sofas (with brand new therepudic mattresses)  that I think are aesthetically pleasing for $350 for both. The bidding process is kind of fun, you might like it 😁 Finding people to help you go get the couches in a rental truck, not so much, but I think it was worth it!

@Nur785 I have big properties, so I need my furniture to be identical, both in terms of uniformity of the look, but most importantly as far as replacement. I need to be able to go out and buy the same exact thing ASAP so for most items it cannot be secondhand. I have more freedom to play with coffee tables and decor. I do not want to get any secondhand couches or chairs for the fear of bedbugs.
