Is it legal to rent out a summer house on social housing? (united kingdom)

To put this simply, I live in a detached 2 bedroom social house, i plan on building a summer house in the garden, i do not need to ask permission to do this due to its size, there will be no extra fees or charges on my bills by adding this.

I know it is illegal to sub-let a property without permission, i've seen the stories of people being fined thousands and being evicted for renting out their entire studio apartment's or just the rooms inside

I feel like my situation is different as i wouldnt be renting a room inside the actually building, the landlords would not own the summer house i build and there property isn't at risk of damage as potential airbnb'ers will never have access to the landlords building, In my eyes it is the same as erecting a tent in the garden or just parking a caravan on the driveway, and i can't seem to find anything saying this is illegal

@George1837 why not just ask your landlord? They will point you to the lease clause forbidding this or confirm it is allowed.

Your post is rather confusing @George1837

1. If you build a summer house in the back garden and you want to use it for commercial use - you need planning permission from your local council. It doesn't matter what your view is, what matters is what our planning regulations are. When you are running a business which an STR is the regulations are clear.

2. If your landlord is the housing authority or social housing I highly doubt in your lease you would be able to operate a business from your premises

Presumably you have checked your lease?
