Pet Policies

Hello AirBnB community.

 

We are new to STR and trying to decide if a pet policy (ie allowing pets) is a good business decision.

 

We have a relatively large property, sleeping 14 max:  Several bedrooms and sleeping spaces.  Pool, hot tub, deck, workout facility, etc.

 

We recognize that pets would expand our market in an area that does not have a lot of large party (8+ people) demand, but we are concerned about leather furniture, door scratches, hair, etc (basically damage that can delay other openings and cost $ to repair.)

 

What is your experience with Pets?  Do benefits out-way risks?

 

Where you have had claims against a guest, how often and how long to resolve?

 

Can house rules exclude certain types of pets?  Any experience managing pet type or qualification?

Allowing pets can definitely attract a wider variety of guests. Have you received many inquiries in the past from guests wanting to bring their pets?
